Never before has a new category emerged in the Consumer Electronics space with as little guidance for how to organize, place and demonstrate the products as the emerging Wearables category. While much time and money is spent on technology development, we have seen little discussion of the very unique needs of shoppers for the new and – in many cases – difficult to describe use cases Wearables address. DCI-Artform, one of the largest global retail experience firms, will share its unique exploration into how to bring Wearables to shoppers and share best practices, recommendations and a glimpse at the future.

Co-Founder
Machina
Linda is the cofounder of Machina, a Wearable Technology fashion brand. After working in a PR firm for a little over a year, she decided that working to promote products she didn't care about wasn't what she wanted to do. She went on to co-found The Gyzu Experiment, a web design and development firm, and Plan de Escape, a project where male inmates in a prison for violent crimes where taught about fashion, marketing, and trends. The project culminated in a fashion brand owned by the inmates that can be used as a path to rehabilitation when leaving prison.

From her experience in fashion with Plan de Escape she went on to co-found MACHINA; receiving seed capital from Telefónica Móvil. MACHINA entered the Wayra academy November 2011. From Day One, Linda has been responsible of getting the brand out there. Into the lives of people who one way or another need to integrate fashionable technology into their daily activities. She is today a young expert in developing what does not exist. Since 2011 MACHINA has been part of Campus Party Brazil, TechCrunch Disrupt San Francisco, IXEL MODA Cartagena Colombia, Wired UK, Tedx, Decoded Fashion London, Explorers Festival and more.

Vincent Brown
Grammy Award Winning Artist, Activist, Host and MC
Naughty By Nature Vincent Brown Grammy Award Winning Artist, Activist, Host and MC vincent-brown.png
Vinnie Brown helped change Hip Hop history. Hip-hop is notorious for short-lived careers, big singles, and one-hit wonders. Naughty by Nature, however, is the exception. Since the early 90's Naughty by Nature (NBN) has created chart-topping party anthems that have dominated Rap, Pop, and R&B charts, all the while staying true to hip – hop.

The group exploded on the scene during the summer of 1991with "O.P.P" and "Everything's Gonna be Alright" from their self-titled debut, Naughty by Nature. Their second album, 19 Naughty III (1993) featured another crossover smash, " Hip-Hop Hooray," which rivaled "O.P.P" as the national catch phrase of the early '90's.

Their previously released albums: Naughty by Nature 1991 (Platinum) 19 Naughty III (1993 – Platinum), Poverty's Paradise (1995 – Gold) and 19 Naughty Nature's Fury (1999 – Gold) has sold over 10 million copies worldwide. Naughty has received the following accolades in their 10 year career: Grammy Award for best Rap Album, Poverty's Paradise, American Music Award for the Best New Rap Group and a Source Award for New Artist of the Year.

As a Community Activist, Vinnie passionately speaks out against drug and the ever growing violence of street gangs found in his local communities. He has organized and participated in a multitude of forums, rallies, conferences and teen summits offering peaceful solutions and giving hope to our youth. Whether sitting beside Russell Simmons on a high school stage, assisting his Mayor, debating with a County Prosecutor or mentoring a group of students. Vinnie is comfortable in his position as activist and role model. Vinnie has been one of the voices in support of the East Orange Police Athletic League, headed by Sergeant DeLacy Davis.

Vinnie is still active with his first love, MUSIC. However, he's using his voice and visibility as a host and MC to spread positive messages to the youth.

Harnessing Wearable Data
Ownership of dedicated wearable fitness devices tripled to 9 percent in 2013. With a host of new product launches in 2013 and additional launches slated for in 2014, this year is shaping up to be the year of wearables, a trend poised to significantly impact health and fitness. The union of wearable technology and health care has the potential to address the trifecta of issues burdening the U.S. health care system: rising costs, lack of coordination in providing care, and the increase in chronic diseases tied to lifestyle. In his presentation, DuBravac will dig into industry forecasts to detail these budding categories, unearth evolving consumer behaviors and explore how wearables and their vast data collection abilities will continue to inform and change our lives

This panel brings together smart watch pioneers to discuss why the smart watch has as the same time been one of the early front runners in gauging wearables success, yet still lacking in terms of desired adoption and why the wrist will, in fact, prove to be the dominant wearable real estate. Do smart watches have to pull back on tech and add more traditional design to be successful? What’s the ideal price point for mass adoption? What’s the desired connectivity model, standalone wireless device or phone-dependent?
