Newtown Man Pleads Guilty To Child Porn Charge

NEWTOWN, Feb 13, 2013 (The Hartford Courant - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A 29-year-old Newtown man will be sentenced to at least 15 years in prison after pleading guilty on Wednesday to one count of production of child pornography.

A 29-year-old Newtown man will be sentenced to at least 15 years in prison after pleading guilty on Wednesday to one count of production of child pornography.

Edward F. Wilson was arrested in April 2012 on federal pornography charges. State officials also arrested him in July and charged him with repeatedly raping a 4-year-old girl.

Wilson was charged in federal court with first-degree possession of child pornography, obscenity and promoting a minor in an obscene performance. He also faces 22 state charges, including six counts of first-degree sexual assault, five counts of fourth-degree sexual assault and 11 counts of risk of injury to a minor.

Between 2011 and 2012, Wilson filmed and photographed the abuse with an iPhone, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney's Office. Wilson kept all the files on his home computer in addition to a collection of other child pornography.

Wilson is scheduled to be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Vanessa L. Bryant on May 1 and faces 15 to 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

The Connecticut State Police Computer Crimes Unit, the Newtown Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Connecticut Child Exploitation Task Force all contributed to the investigation.
