adidas' Qaizar Hassonjee to Tackle Impact of Smart Fabrics on Sports at Wearable Tech Expo

Hassonjee set to provide insights into evolution – and future – of wearable technology and adidas’ innovation of “Smart Soccer”

NORWALK, Conn. – TMC announced today that Qaizar Hassonjee, Head of R&D at adidas Wearable Sports Electronics, the group that spearheaded the development of smart soccer, will present a keynote address on the ubiquity of smart fabrics and their impact on sports on Wednesday, July 24, at the Wearable Tech Expo. The expo is being held July 24-25 at the Kimmel Center at NYU in New York City.

The wearable technology phenomenon is showing no signs of slowing down. From Google Glass to smartwatches to amazing new sensors, every industry has adopted the trend. In his keynote, Hassonjee will discuss how wearable technology has evolved over the last decade and share his views on its potential for the future. He will also talk about adidas’ miCoach Elite System, its new cutting-edge innovation that tracks on-field data in real time, helping teams attain and maintain peak physical performance in games and training. Such “smart soccer” technology is becoming more and more mainstream, and adidas is helping to lead the charge.

“Wearable tech has come a long way in the last decade and now it is becoming ubiquitous,” said Hassonjee. “Wearable Tech makes things possible that we did not think were before.”

Before adidas, Hassonjee was co-founder and chief development and commercial officer of Textronics Inc., an electro-textile technology company that originated from DuPont’s textile fiber research effort and was recently acquired by adidas.
