Vuzix Announces Partnership with Salesforce for Enterprise Wearables

Vuzix, a video eyewear and smart glasses supplier, has announced a new partnership with Salesforce Wear that will demonstrate the uses of wearable technology in the workplace.

Vuzix will be creating wearable tech solutions for the workplace to enhance productivity and satisfaction, said Vuzix CEO and President Paul J. Travers, by building on the rise and momentum wearable tech in the world.

Specifically, Vuzix will be contributing its Android-powered M100 Smart Glasses to the Salesforce Wear initiative.

“Like mobile 10 years ago, wearables presents a huge opportunity for businesses to transform the way they work," said Daniel Debow, SVP emerging technologies, salesforce.com in a statement. “By leveraging the power of the Salesforce1 Customer Platform, Vuzix is helping companies connect with their customers in a whole new way.”

Salesforce 1 claims to have 1.5 million developers on board to develop enterprise focused wearable solutions using the Salesforce 1 platform.

“With access to a growing library of devices, sample code, documentation, demonstrations and reference apps to learn from, enterprise developers can immediately start building their own business applications connected to wearable devices,” says the company. “The goal of the launch is to make it easy to dream, build and deploy bold ideas never before seen in the enterprise.”

Vuzix says it will demonstrate the potential of wearables to multiple different industries.

“Salesforce.com is one of the world's most innovative technology companies and we are pleased to be partaking in this initiative,” said Paul J. Travers.

Vuzix was founded in 1997 and develops smart wearable technologies. It currently has offices in the U.S., U.K. and Japan and holds 39 patents with 10 more pending. It has previously won awards at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
