Wearable Tech World Week in Review: Apple, Tag Heuer, Mango Health

Can you guess what this week’s big trend was? Here’s a hint: we don’t need a smartwatch to know that it’s time for the week in review.

Apple Watch has been the life of the wearable tech world party of late, but Swiss watchmaker Tag Heuer is bringing attention to itself with announcements of big plans for its sporty luxury watch, the Carrera. Tag Heuer will be giving it a brain with the help of two companies you’ve surely heard of.

In a bid to compete with the Apple Watch, LVMH's Tag Heuer confirmed its partnership with powerhouses Intel and Google, which will yield a luxury Android Wear Watch in the form of a top-selling, stylish timepiece this fall. Details regarding the partnership have not yet been disclosed, but you can learn all about what we do know HERE.

In other news related to smartwatches, Apple Watch will be getting Mango Health’s Drug Prescription app. The app, which launched two years ago, is designed to help patients stick to their medication schedule. In addition to letting you know when it is time to take your medication—subsequently clicking on a tab to let the app know that you have taken it—the app will provide you with all the information you need to know about your medications, which includes drug interactions or side effects.  Due to the favorable results of the trial period, Mango will be developing the app with additional features. Read all about them.

Let’s take a moment to focus on the world of sports—as it pertains to wearable tech, not March Madness. Professional sports is one enterprise that's taking a serious look at wearable devices, and this is a technology that may change the game—literally and figuratively—as we know it. Steve Anderson explains how and when we might expect to see such changes implemented.

And that pretty much wraps up our week in review. Keep checking in with us for all the newest updates in the wonderful world of wearable technology.
