Diagono Magnesium Concept Watch by Bulgari Locks Away Your Top-secret Data

Nothing says “secret agent” like a chic watch that can store sensitive information. While Bulgari, Italian jewelry and luxury good brand, hasn’t suited up for the smartwatch race, they did announce the Diagono Magnesium Concept Watch at BaselWorld 2015, and if we didn’t know better, we’d say it was built for espionage.

The new watch is developed in collaboration with WISeKey, a Swiss company that specializes in data storage and digital security. A luxurious Bulgaria Roma will be outfitted with the “Bulgari Vault” app, which the company refers to as a “military-level virtual security vault.”

Owners of the watch will have the ability to store their top secret documents—like credit card information, birth certificates, medical documents, and doomsday devices blueprints—using the app. The information is encrypted and stored by WISeKey in a military bunker somewhere in the Swiss Alps. This data will only become accessible with the very same watch that was used to lock it away.

According to the company, “The watch is at the complete opposite of everything the world of so-called connected watches is able to offer. A self-winding mechanical watch incorporating all the codes of luxury, as well as an electronic passport connected to the watch and its wearer, whose confidential data now enjoys total protection.”

But that’s not all. Bulgari and WISeKey foresee the ability of the Diagono Magnesium (even the name sounds like it belongs in a screenplay) to unlock doors at work, at home, and elsewhere, start the engine of your car, make digital payments, and may even help "get exclusive access to a VIP lounge," according to an article published in Tech Times.

We can expect to see Bulgari’s newest timepiece sometime next year at an estimated cost of somewhere between five and six thousand Euros ($5,477 to $6,576 U.S. dollars).

Oh, and it will also be able to tell time.
