Wearable Tech World Week in Review: QiLaunch Wear, Xiaomi, Chronos, APX Labs

When Google Glass was first introduced, we saw videos of employees riding on bikes, canoeing and skydiving. These were all scenarios designed to show you that the device could be part of your daily life recording all of your activities for posting. However, lately we have seen a much more practical use for Google Glass in the healthcare field.

Smartphones and online menu houses made it easier for people to order food as they are on their way home, almost being able to time it so that you and your food arrive at the same location at the same time. How would you feel about something that could make it even easier to navigate your mobile device and order a menu item with a glance of your eye?

We have all heard the name Fitbit and most of you probably have one of the company’s fitness bands. How many have heard about the Xiaomi Mi Band? Probably not that many in the U.S., however, if you live in China, Hong Kong, India or Taiwan then you are mostly one of the proud owners who have made this the second most wearable device.

Most people have a favorite piece of jewelry that they wear all the time. In most cases other than a ring, a watch is probably the most worn device that can be classified as jewelry. With all of the smartwatches that are on the market now, you may be contemplating retiring your favorite regular watch. You may have another option available to you, check out the Chronos.

I mentioned the introduction of Google Glass above, it was not too long ago that wearable devices were geared for the individual. Gamers went after augmented reality glasses and people working out gravitated toward fitness bands. Increasingly, wearable technology is leaning towards the business world. Smart glasses and headsets are making it easier for employees to accomplish more at the office.

These are just of few of the stories that we have looked at this week. You should read the details of all of these stories, as well as find out what else is happening in the world of wearable technology. Go to Wearable Tech World and see what you’ve missed.
