Wearable Tech Becoming a Bigger Focus for the Enterprise

There is very little doubt that wearable tech is only getting more popular all over the world. What is a relatively new revelation is that the market is moving from something that is considered a consumer niche and is gaining more interest from the enterprise world. A research report put out by industry analyst 451 research found that 39 percent of U.S. IT decision-makers at companies that plan to use or are using wearable tech will deploy solutions in the next six months. Twenty-four percent are going to deploy in the next year. Smartwatches such as the Apple Watch are going to be the biggest beneficiaries of these plans. Of those companies that are going to be launching wearable device support as a company policy, 81 percent will be using smart watches to do it.

With smartwatches becoming so popular, the biggest questions on the minds of some of the most savvy IT professionals as well as CEOs is, what are some other ways to use wearable technology in the business world?

The Wearable Tech Expo, kicking off on July 13 this year sets out to answer that among other questions pressing the enterprise and small business worlds combined. People like Ryan Shearman, CEO of Fusar Technologies will be presenting new and advanced ways of taking advantage of tech like Augmented Reality. The advanced use of motion sensors that can interpret location, position and the context of what we are trying to accomplish is going to have a distinct difference in the ways companies do business.

Right now, most of the Augmented Reality type solutions are viewed using something as clunky as an application on a smartphone. Google Glass is one product that is trying to change Augmented Reality so that it is far more practical. While it’s still not quite there on a broad scale, the fact that companies are looking in this direction underlines the business world’s interest in wearable tech as we move forward.
