Treata SmartCare Watch Targets Home Health Market

Even though it’s been pretty well established so far that fitness devices are way more popular than smartwatches, Treata Smart Solutions is willing to give smartwatches a try with the SmartCare Watch. But Treata isn’t taking as much of a risk as it seems as the company is taking advantage of what it believes is a largely ignored segment: the health care smartwatch segment.

It’s actually a great idea. The home health care space is a popular one right now for a variety of reasons, so a smartwatch designed to provide caregivers with updates about their loved ones’ well-being through an app that’s compatible with iOS and Android devices could be a success.

“We noticed a gap in the market for products related to the growing issue of memory loss in the aging population,” says Amir Harandi, Vice President, Business Development, Treata Smart Solutions. “As our family roles evolve into caregivers, we now have the ability to utilize technology in a new way to not only provide the best possible care, but still allow our loved ones to hold on to their freedom and dignity.”

The SmartCare Watch is a water resistant smartwatch that provides up to four days of usage on a single charge. It can also notify caregivers when battery life is low, whether via text message or e-mail alert, ensuring they never miss a critical event.

Other key features of the SmartCare Watch include: Designated Safe Zones that provide caregivers with a senior’s exact location and sends notifications when they have left the area; direct communication between family members and caregivers through the Circle of Care messaging platform; detection of abnormal movement or prolonged absence of movement through the Fall Detector feature; an S.O.S button; and SmartCare Tags that track daily activities to ensure optimal health.

The SmartCare Watch is available now through Indiegogo. Each purchase includes a free first month of service, after which a $30 subscription fee will apply.
